OKEECHOBEE MAN WINS $1 MILLION SCRATCH-OFF PRIZE
SIX MONTHS AFTER MOVING TO FLORIDA
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announces that Christopher Cummins, 44, of Okeechobee, claimed a $1 million prize in the $5,000,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLIER Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee, after moving to Florida from Ohio only six months ago.
Cummins chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $784,427.20. He purchased his winning ticket from Sun Food, located at 1009 Hunter Road in Okeechobee. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.
Cummins said he won a $1,000 prize on two different Scratch-Off tickets in the past few weeks. "I was actually on my way down to the Lottery's West Palm Beach District Office to cash those in when I decided to stop and buy another ticket; that's when I got the million-dollar winner!"
The $20 game, $5,000,000 FLAMINGO MULTIPLER, features more than 7.6 million winning tickets and more than $346 million in total cash prizes! The game's overall odds of winning are one-in-2.97.
Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery's portfolio of games, comprising approximately 67 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $632 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2014-15.
